Throwing Hand Drops Too Low

Throwing efficiency starts when the hands break during the initial stages of the cocking phase. To maximize throwing efficiency, the throwing hand should be within a “window” that is bordered at the top of the hip bone, or waist, and the bony structure on the side of the hip at the top of the leg. This bony structure is called the greater trochanter. When the throwing hand comes below the greater trochanter, the arm must take a longer time to accelerate through the arm path, placing more time under tension upon the UCL. If the player learns to stay within the window and not bring their hand below the greater trochanter, they will reduce time under tension and have a quicker delivery to the target
