Key Points of Terminal Stance

  • Knee transitions from extension to flexion
  • Ankle dorsiflexion (normal at least 10 degrees)
  • Hip extension (normal range is 15-20 degrees)


From a side angle, film your subject and use the frame-by-frame feature to find the terminal stance of gait. Measure the angle of hip extension and ankle dorsiflexion. Fill out the remainder of the gait evaluation document. When finished, take a screenshot or photo of the document and upload it to the space below.
